Top 10 Protein Shakes

These protein powder recipes are great as a meal in themselves or as part of a meal such as breakfast. They will also help you to fuel up before a workout or help replenish lost nutrients after a workout. I’ve tried to include as many different recipes as possible to cater for most people’s tastes. For vegans or those of you with a dairy intolerance you can substitute cow’s milk for almond, rice or hemp milk – where possible I will suggest alternatives. I have also included 2 protein powder recipes for vegetarians  using hemp protein powder. Below are my top 10 protein shakes, enjoy!!

Tropical Blast


  • 1 cup skimmed milk or unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder
  • 1 cup  frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon shredded coconut or coconut milk

Mix in blender

Banana Honey Shake

Banana Honey ShakeIngredients

1 cup of skimmed milk
1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder
3/4 cup of low fat natural yoghurt
1 banana 2 teaspoons honey
1 tsp of flaxseed oil

Mix in blender  

Super Protein Shake


      • 2 cups skimmed milk
      • 2 scoops vanilla or chocolate protein powder
      • 4 egg whites
      • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
      • 4 ice cubes

Chocolate & Almond Surprise

10-12 oz of nonfat milk
1 scoop of chocolate flavored whey protein powder
15 raw almonds
1/2 tsp coconut extract
3-5 Ice cubes

Mix well in blender until almonds have fully broken up

Mango & Pineapple Shake


      • 8oz of low fat milk or almond milk
      • 1 scoop of vanilla or unflavored whey protein powder
      • 1 cup of pineapple
      • ½ mango cut up
      • 2-3 Ice cubes

Mix in blender

Berry Delight

1 cup skimmed milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 Banana
12 Blueberries
6 Raspberries
4 Strawberries

Breakfast Shake


      • 12oz of fresh squeezed orange juice
      • 2 Scoops of vanilla flavored egg white protein powder or whey protein powder
      • 1 banana
      • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
      • 2 teaspoons organic vanilla extract
      • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional)
      • 1 tablespoon lecithin (optional)

Key Lime Shake

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 avocado Juice of 1 lime
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut
1-2 teaspoons of stevia (optional)

Mix in blender

Ultimate Green Hemp Shake


  • 8oz of hemp milk
  • 1 scoop of natural hemp protein powder
  • 1 large kiwi
  • handful of spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 teaspoon of peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon of sunflower seeds
  • 1 teaspoon hemp seeds (optional)
  • 2 -3 ice cubes


Chocolate Walnut Hemp Shake

8oz of hemp milk
1 scoop of natural hemp protein powder
1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
50g of walnuts
1/2 banana
2 -3 ice cubes

Blend thoroughly
